Description

Boxes Wizard 2 drops you right into that retro vibe, with chunky pixels and a dash of magic—quite literally. You’re this little wizard dude, hopping around tight levels, pushing boxes here and there, but the twist is your ability to swap spots with them. Not just move them—teleport! There’s an odd sense of satisfaction every time you blink past a spike trap or slip through what looked impossible at first glance. You don’t get much hand-holding; trial and error becomes part of the experience, which sometimes is fun, though I’ll admit it got frustrating when I blanked out on a solution. The level design ramps up fairly quickly. First few are gentle introductions, but then you might end up stuck (I did for longer than I’d like). Well, that happens. If you’re into brainteasers dressed up as platformers, it works well. There’s no big story or long cutscenes in the way—just straight-up puzzle-platforming for those short bursts or long evenings if you get hooked. A little patience helps. It’s interesting—the game feels old-school but keeps pulling out new mechanics just as things might risk getting stale.

I started Boxes Wizard 2 expecting some easy-going nostalgia hit, but it caught me off guard after about six levels. At first, flicking between spots with your magic felt almost too simple; suddenly though, every new screen had me stopping to think twice before moving anything. Swapping with boxes instead of pushing all the time? That’s pretty clever—it makes you rethink standard platformer habits. To be honest, sometimes the pixel-perfect jumps (and timing) ask for more precision than I’d like for a puzzler. Still... there were moments where figuring out one tricky room gave me that happy little rush only good puzzle games manage. The graphics are basic but charming enough. If anything bugs me: maybe too much repetition in some layouts? But I kept coming back anyway.
